Between 1827 and 1899, Abbot & Downing Company of Concord, New Hampshire produced more than three thousand Concord Stage Coaches, a great improvement in travel.
The distinctive rounded wooden body rests on a unique leather suspension system that provides a more stable ride than a spring suspension. The interior was finished in leather and damask. The undercarriage was usually yellow, and red was the most common exterior color.
When I originally collected these images from online sources for my own study and research, I had no intention of using them beyond that, and so I did not make note of the sources.
